The Material Library is work in progress — parts of it are appearing in the connector now, and this page will grow as the feature rolls out.
The problem it solves
When several people work on the same project in their own local SketchUp or Rhino files, each of them ends up creating materials locally — the same concrete, the same timber, made slightly differently in every file. The result is duplicates, naming drift, and a design language that quietly diverges across the team.
The idea
A cloud-based central material library, synced through GingerBIM: the project’s materials live in one place, and every team member’s SketchUp or Rhino file syncs against it. One definition of each material, shared by everyone — a single source of truth for the project’s design language, in the modelling tools and in GingerBIM itself.
What’s in the connector today
The connector has a Material Library tab alongside the component buckets, with an action to add your SketchUp or Rhino materials to the project’s library. Full two-way syncing — pulling the library’s materials back into every teammate’s file — is still being built out.
